Wesleyan University develops leaders who engage the world and make it better.

At 175 years, one of the oldest and most academically challenging liberal arts colleges in the United States, Wesleyan develops leaders able to innovate amid constant change by engaging its students in an intelligent dialogue among people from all backgrounds and across all disciplines. Every day, Wesleyan students and faculty challenge and are challenged as they pursue excellence in all aspects of academic and co-curricular life. Wesleyan graduates understand that respect and recognition, personal growth and fulfillment are earned, not acquired.

As New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick '75 said upon receiving an honorary doctorate at Wesleyan's commencement in 2005, "Leadership is about one word: attitude. ... That's the energy inside the team. At Wesleyan I see the same thing. … The life of the school is the people who are here and that passes on from one generation to the next."
