
The CTW Consortium, which is comprised of Connecticut
College, Trinity College, and Wesleyan
University received a grant from the Andrew
W. Mellon Foundation. The Project began in the summer of 1995 and will end
in July 2000. The goals of the project include:

Strengthening and extending the teaching and learning of foreign languages

Applying new technologies to the instruction of languages

Serving as a model for the application of these new teaching technologies
for other humanities disciplines on the three campuses

Setting the stage for additional joint undertakings within the Consortium
To these ends:
- A Project
Director and three Technical Specialists were hired by the CTW Consortium
to advise faculty in the use of technology;
- Workshops
and other activities are arranged to increase the technological expertise
of faculty members and assist them in applying that expertise in their courses;
- Mellon grant money is provided for funding the development of projects
which integrate new technologies into their teaching;
- Faculty Development
Sites are being established on each campus to give faculty access to the
resources needed to explore the potential of the new technologies;
- Electronic Language
Classrooms are being created on each campus which will furnish facutlty
with the means to integrate the new technology into the curriculum.
