
In order to provide faculty with access to new technology resources, computer
centers for the development of faculty projects have been funded by the
Mellon grant. These Faculty Development Sites (FDSs) have been set up at
all three campuses.
Hardware available in the Faculty Development Sites
Each FDS houses the following hardware (exceptions noted under each institution's
section, below):

Two Power Macintosh 8500/120 computers with AppleVision 1710 AV monitors
with 1 GB or 2 GB hard disks

One IBM or IBM-compatible computer with Pentium processor

One Hewlett-Packard ScanJet flatbed scanner. The scanner may be used to
digitize printed texts, images, drawings, photographs, slides and transparencies.

One Panasonic 20" monitor with built-in VCR for viewing of videocassettes
or laserdiscs

One Panasonic multistandard VCR (plays tapes in NTSC, PAL or SECAM formats)
for the playback and digitizing of video

One Pioneer laserdisc player for the playback of laserdiscs

One Iomega Jaz drive for backups of the development Power Macintoshes

One Iomega Zip drive for backups of faculty projects and for transporting
materials between campuses

One Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer
The FDS at Connecticut College
The FDS at Connecticut College is located in Blaustein 106. Language faculty involved
with the Mellon Project who wish to access the room should get in touch with Marisa
Castagno, the Technical Specialist.
The FDS at Trinity College
The FDS at Trinity College is located in Seabury 22B. Access to the facility
is via your faculty identification card.
The FDS at Wesleyan University
The FDS at Wesleyan University is located in Fisk 207, within the Language Lab.
