PICS Videoguidelines, compiled by Rick Altman et
al.
The PICS Videoguidelines have been developed to stimulate work
with video in language teaching. They are not meant to be prescriptive,
but provocative; they are ideas, suggestions, perspectives, fragments of
a larger universe of possibilities. The manual is 24 pages long and consists
of four parts:
-
Twelve Topics on Video in Language Learning provides over 100 answers
to some of the most frequently heard questions about work with video.
-
Dimensions of Interactivity provides a rationale and a two-page
chart to guide a teacher's approach to any video segment.
-
An Activities Inventory offers an extensive checklist of 77 specific
activities for three phases of teaching with video: presentation, preparation,
and expansion.
-
Readings makes a few suggestion for further exploration of this
topic.
