Chigozie Obioma

Chigozie Obioma writes fiction primarily about social and historical conditions of the people of West Africa as a way of exploring larger questions of what it means to be human in the world. He also teaches courses in modern literature and experimentation, as well as in African Literature.

Chigozie Obioma is a Nigerian writer whose novels are widely acclaimed and have won half a dozen prizes and nominated for two dozen others including twice for the Booker prize, FT/Oppenheimer prize, LA Times prize for first fiction, amongst others. Hiw work have been translated into 30 languages. He is a Distinguished Writer in Residence at Wesleyan's Shapiro center for Writing and Criticism.
