Diana Lynn Schwartz Francisco

A historian of Latin America by training, Diana Schwartz Francisco's research and teaching focus on indigenous politics, the history and politics of social science, and the relationship between economic development and environmental change in Latin America.

Her work is motivated by an interest in how theories to improve the human condition are realized in practice, and in turn how that practice affects subsequent ideas and policies. Relatedly, she is concerned with how changes in a local environment affect the ways people organize politically and experience race and ethnicity.
