Iris Yoon

Iris Yoon is an applied topologist developing novel applications of algebraic topology to data science. She studies topological data analysis, a field of mathematics that infers structural information from data using techniques from topology. Recent advancements in biomedical data collection, such as cancer imaging and brain signal measurements, necessitate new analysis techniques for studying rich data sources. Iris uses topology, network theory, and machine learning to develop methods that capture the complexities of biological experimental data in neuroscience, cancer research, and genomics.

Before joining Wesleyan, Iris was a postdoctoral researcher at the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford. She received her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
