DANCE
The Dance Department
invites applications from qualified candidates specializing in Ghanaian Dance,
for a part-time, World Dance/Artist-In- Residence position, beginning Fall
2008. The ideal candidate will teach two courses each semester and produce two
yearly concerts in collaboration with members of the music faculty and the West
African music ensemble. Applicants with professional performance skills, an
advanced degree, interest in scholarship, and experience working in a liberal
arts environment will be given serious consideration. The ideal candidate must
be able to familiarize students with the physical practice and history/culture
of Ghanaian dance, and engage in an active collaboration with music faculty.
Knowledge of the Ghanaian drumming repertoire is a distinct advantage.
Experience teaching a diverse student population with various degrees of
exposure to dance, as well as placing dance within a liberal arts context is
highly desirable. Responsibilities include: classroom teaching; directing and
advising student and/or faculty performances; and participating in
lecture-demonstrations with members of the music faculty.
Wesleyan University is a

Salary is commensurate
with experience, background, education, and qualifications. This is a
part-time, three-year renewable contract position, with annual raises, research
sabbaticals, and eligibility for yearly merit increases based on artistic

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Wesleyan University is seeking applicants for the
position of Head Coach of Men’s Basketball. This is a multi-year, adjunct
faculty appointment beginning July 1, 2008. Responsibilities will include, but
will not be limited to, organizing and administering all aspects of the men’s
basketball team, including team practice planning, scheduling, arranging for
travel, recruiting, supervising an assistant coach and assistant coaching of a
second sport and/or an administrative assignment. Also, the successful candidate
must adhere to all University, NESCAC and NCAA Division III
regulations.Bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree in a sports
related field is preferred. Candidates should have significant experience in
the coaching of college and/or secondary school basketball team(s). The ability
to mentor students in a very challenging academic environment is an important
qualification, as well as, the ability to recruit and coach highly competitive
basketball players.
Salary is commensurate with experience and
