Applying to Wesleyan

Visual Arts

The Wesleyan Visual Arts Department welcomes submissions of creative work to supplement a prospective student’s application!

  • We do not accept artist statements, personal photos, Xeroxes, pdfs, or web sites.

Submitting Images Digitally:

The Wesleyan Admission staff will create a folder on the Wesleyan file system for the uploading of your work.  When requesting your folder please include your WesID, full name, admission program (ED I, ED II, Regular, Fall Transfer, Spring Transfer) and specific supplement type (3-Dimensional Work, Architecture, Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography and Printmaking).  You may choose a maximum of three supplement types.  In return, you will receive a special link with upload directions.

To request your folder please email:

Please email supplementalart@wesleyan.edu .

Submission Guidelines:

  • The submission must be in the jpeg (.jpg) file format at 72 dpi.  Please do not submit files larger than 72 dpi.
  • The title of each jpeg should be your last name, WesID, and sequential number starting with "1" separated by an underscore, i.e. Jones_12.jpg.
  • Upload at least ten, but no more than twenty images.
  • We will try our best to open these images but if they do not open we will not be responsible for notifying you or reformatting them, so you may wish to try them on a platform other than your own.
  • We will only consider portfolios of 3-Dimensional Work, Architecture, Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography and Printmaking.
  • Portfolios of one medium are preferred over portfolios of mixed media.  You may request portfolios containing a maximum of three different media (i.e. photo, painting and architecture).
  • Photography, Architecture, and 3-Dimensional portfolios each require a minimum of ten images.
  • Drawing, Painting, Graphic Design, and Printmaking may be combined for a minimum of ten images.
