HIGH SCHOOL:
Montclair High School
MAJOR:
English: Creative Writing & the Writing Certificate
STUDY ABROAD:
Bologna, Italy
ACTIVITIES:

I have played varsity lacrosse since my freshman year. With my team, I’ve volunteered at MacDonough School in Middletown, working with young students on their reading and writing skills. I also volunteer at Wesleyan as a writing tutor in both English and Italian and was an editor for AfterHours, a creative nonfiction magazine. During my sophomore year, I was the stage manager for a play performed at Second Stage. I also am a member of the English Department Majors Committee, which organizes open houses for prospective majors and other events.

OUTSIDE
WESLEYAN:
During the summer after my sophomore year, I was an intern at the public relations firm, GolinHarris-Interpublic Group, where I saw firsthand how companies are making the shift from print to digital through social media. This summer, I will be an editorial intern at HarperCollins Publishing in the children’s/young adult division. In the fall of my junior year, I studied abroad in Bologna, Italy with the Eastern College Consortium. In my free time, I write creative nonfiction stories as well as plays and screenplays.
FAVORITE
CLASS:
Advanced Nonfiction Workshop with Professor Lisa Cohen.
FAVORITE WESLEYAN EXPERIENCE:
During my sophomore year, I was assigned to read Night by Elie Wiesel for one of my writing classes. We discussed the book in class, and then just two days later, I saw Elie Wiesel himself take the stage for a lecture in Wesleyan’s Memorial Chapel. That moment, hearing from a writer who has inspired so much of my own prose and style, was life-changing.
AFTER
WESLEYAN:

I hope to publish my writing eventually in literary magazines and journals. I would like to pursue a career in book or magazine publishing, ideally in the area of creative nonfiction. I also am considering attending graduate school to study English and creative writing.
