HOMETOWN:
Tshaneni, Swaziland |
HIGH SCHOOL:
United World College in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina |
MAJOR:
Neuroscience & Behavior and Molecular Biology & Biochemistry
FAVORITE CLASS:
My favorite class was “Organic Chemistry” with Professor Erika Taylor. In the beginning, I spent sleepless nights with friends memorizing complex chemical reactions with little understanding. It wasn’t until half way into the semester that I started to use the jargon correctly and find patterns in the complex chemical reactions faster. It was challenging and fun, and Professor Taylor was always happy to help.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES:
I am one of the four members of the Wesleyan Honor Board. I am part of the African Student Association and the Model of the United Nations. I also conduct research in Professor Cohan’s lab studying the origins of bacterial evolution.
OUTSIDE WESLEYAN:
I am the founder and director of The Buddies Program – a tutoring program that brings quality education to rural Swaziland through one-on-one support. We have recently received the Davis Peace Grant to tutor 60 girls in rural Swaziland. (thebuddiesprogram.org)

FAVORITE WESLEYAN EXPERIENCE:
My favorite Wesleyan experience is spending time with my friends and talking about everything and nothing. Students at Wesleyan are interesting and smart, and I have learned a lot and been inspired by the people I’ve met. |
AFTER WESLEYAN:
I want to work for a health-consulting firm before enrolling for a MPH and MBA dual program. My ultimate career goal is to improve health care delivery systems in Africa.
