THESIS:
I am writing, directing, and editing a10-minute digital short.
FAVORITE CLASS:
My favorite class has been “Sight & Sound” with Professor Steve Collins. In this course you write, direct, shoot, and edit four short movies on 16mm film. By the end of that class, I learned how to see space differently, how to create an emotion using only rhythm, composition, and lighting, and how incredibly hard, and rewarding, it is to make movies. |
CAMPUS ACTIVITIES:
I've had three student jobs on campus, one in the Cinema Archives, another as a tour guide for the office of admission and another doing astronomy research. I am involved in several dance performances around campus such as Terpsichore and WesBurlesque. I’m also involved in athletics through club soccer, intramural basketball, and softball. Also, each fall I work on the senior thesis films of other students – I’ve been involved as a production assistant, gaffer, and even a producer.
OUTSIDE WESLEYAN:
Summer after freshman year, I lived at home and picked up several odd jobs around Milwaukee. I worked at a sub shop, Cousin’s Subs, worked for the Weyco Distribution Factory, which ships Florsheim Shoes, and as bus boy at an Italian pizzeria. The summer after sophomore year, I moved out to Los Angeles and washed dishes with a high school buddy while he pursued acting and I pursued relaxation.
FAVORITE WESLEYAN EXPERIENCE:
My favorite experience has been choreographing a dance for the Terpsichore dance show. I had no prior dance training and my only experience had been a handful of dance shows I tried out for sophomore year and one dance class – Hip Hop. However, this semester we put on a Bar Mitzvah-themed dance and it has been an incredible experience. |
AFTER WESLEYAN:
After Wesleyan, I’m hoping to use the film department’s extensive alumni connections to get a job working in the film industry, either in New York or Los Angeles. A likely position would be as a paid script intern, from which point I would work through the ranks.
