ANDREW
McCLOSKEY

HOMETOWN:
Guilford, CT
HIGH SCHOOL:
Guilford High School
MAJOR:
Biology and Neuroscience and Behavior double major
FAVORITE CLASS:

Behavioral Neurobiology with Matthew Kurtz and Gloster Aaron is by far the best class that I have taken. It inspired me to declare a double major in neuroscience in addition to my biology major during my junior year. I would recommend this class to anyone who has an interest in the natural sciences, specifically biology or neuroscience.

CAMPUS
ACTIVITIES:

I play on the varsity football team and am a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. At the beginning of my sophomore year, I co-founded the Wesleyan Association of Christian Thinkers (WACT), and I continue to co-lead the group.

FAVORITE WESLEYAN EXPERIENCE:

Although I have had many memorable moments in my time at Wesleyan thus far, one of my favorite experiences was winning the Little Three championship (by beating both Amherst College and Williams College) and the NESCAC championship (with a 7-1 record) while playing on the varsity football team in the fall of 2013. Wesleyan hadn’t won the Little Three championship in 40 years and had never won the NESCAC championship (the conference was founded in 1970). I had a piece in making history at Wesleyan University and that is something that I will never forget.

OUTSIDE WESLEYAN:

I am an Eagle Scout and was active in the Boy Scouts of America as a youth. I continue to be involved in the Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader.

AFTER WESLEYAN:

I plan to volunteer for a year or more through AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps, or the Young Adult Volunteers Program of the Presbyterian Church (USA). After I return, I plan to work as an EMT while I apply to graduate schools of public health to get my master’s degree in public health. My hope is to go into hospital administration.
