MATTHEW
LYNCH

HOMETOWN:
Burlington, NJ
HIGH SCHOOL:
Burlington Township High School
MAJOR:
Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
FAVORITE CLASS:

Introduction to Biomolecular Structure with Professor Irina Russu. She brought so much excitement to every class. Everyday, I learned something new about protein interactions and this helped me succeed in my molecular biology course. I was truly inspired to do extra research outside of class to better prepare me to fully understand the new material for the next class.

CAMPUS
ACTIVITIES:

I am a member of the men’s varsity soccer team and Quasimodal a cappella group. I have also been involved in many theatre productions on campus. I am coordinator of WesAGE, a community service group at Wesleyan that facilitates opportunities for interaction between Wesleyan students and elderly Middletown residents through a network of outreach programs.

FAVORITE WESLEYAN EXPERIENCE:

WesRAVE. A playlist of great dance songs is compiled and sent to students on campus and everyone meets on Foss Hill with headphones. With synchronized initiation, we all listen to the playlist and rock out for a couple of hours. There’s something pretty spectacular about 200+ of your peers dancing and running around campus in the middle of the night!

OUTSIDE WESLEYAN:

During summer 2013, I worked at Rutgers University’s
Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy through the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program. I conducted research on the role of activated Macrophages, Gadolinium Chloride, and Clodronate Liposomes in Acetaminophen Induced Hepatotoxicity.

AFTER WESLEYAN:

I hope to travel and gain more clinical experience before going to medical school to pursue my interest in surgery.
