Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the deadline date for submitting the Freeman Addendum?
All materials including the Common Application and the Freeman Addendum should be submitted by January 1st, 2015. However, if you have submitted your Common Application by January 1st and need additional time to work on the Freeman Addendum, you may submit the addendum by January 8th.
  • What application materials do I need for the Freeman Scholarship?
To apply for the Freeman Scholarship, you must submit:
    •    Freeman Scholarship Addendum
    •    Common Application including all required materials.
    •    The appropriate financial document (Certification of Finances or CSS Profile) dependent on one of the three scenarios below that applies to you.
    Option #1
If your family does not have sufficient resources to pay for expenses (approximately $17,000) beyond the Freeman tuition scholarship, you must submit the Profile (TM) Form of the College Scholarship Service (CSS Profile) by February 15 in order to apply for additional financial aid. In the Common Application, check off the “Yes, I have been pre-authorized for a fee waiver by a Wesleyan staff member; [and]” option and immediately thereafter, check off the Freeman Asian Scholarship option.
    Option #2
If you do not require financial assistance to pay for costs beyond the Freeman Asian Scholars Program tuition scholarship (room, board, books, travel and miscellaneous supplies), you must submit a Certification of Finances Form documenting family resources available of at least $17,000 per year, by February 15.  In the Common Application, check off the "Yes, I have been pre-authorized for fee waiver by a Wesleyan staff member."
    Option #3
If you do not require financial assistance to attend and will choose to also apply as a “regular” applicant in addition to the Freeman Asian scholarship, you must submit the $55 application fee and a Certification of Finances form documenting that the family has sufficient resources to fund the entire cost of education, approximately $65,000 in the first year and estimating a 5% increase in each subsequent year.
