WHY I CHOSE WES:

I chose Wesleyan because it has the benefits of a university with view of a small liberal arts college.  Wesleyan provided an environment where I could pursue my interest in playing collegiate lacrosse while still having the academic rigor and research opportunities of a much larger university an aspect only truly exhibited at Wesleyan. However, the most influential reason why I chose Wesleyan was the genuine nature of the student body. At Wesleyan not only are the students academically inspired but also are excited to hear about your own personal story and connection to Wesleyan.

ACADEMIC
INTERESTS:

I am currently planning on declaring a double major this spring in Chemistry and MB&B, despite originally planning on being a Physics major.  My freshman year I enrolled in a wide range of courses in the Arts, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.  However, it soon became evident that I was most interested in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.  After doing research in a lab and taking more advanced courses I was able to solidify my interest in Molecular Biology and Chemistry.

FAVORITE CLASS:

Thus far my favorite class at Wesleyan is surprisingly not one that is in one of my majors. Fall of my freshman year I took Introduction to Experimental Music taught by professor Alvin Lucier, a pioneer in the experimental music movement. I was able to encounter something that was entirely unfamiliar to me prior to coming to Wesleyan and it provided me with an irreplaceable experience from learning about electronic sound to composing my own experimental scores.

CAMPUS
ACTIVITIES:

Varsity Women’s Lacrosse
SHAC (Student Health Advisory Committee) Board Member
Yale University; Pathology Department Research Assistant

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A TOUR GUIDE:

I feel that since Wesleyan has provided me with such an amazing education and community that I truly want to share and get others involved in the Wesleyan experience as I did.  I am still surprised and impressed by Wesleyan regularly, and I am excited to be able to help others see that incredible aspect of the school.
