WHY I CHOSE WES:
|
Wesleyan initially was not my first choice,
and it scared me a little that people at Wesleyan had such diverse interests.
But it is exactly that students at Wesleyan are enthusiastic about so many
different things that made me fall in love with it. During my prefrosh visit,
it was so interesting to see that students are not scared to learn about the
things they enjoy rather than choosing some path to a career. My host also went
out of her way to make sure I knew I could use her as a resource, and she
continued answering any questions I had weeks after my visit. The students at
Wesleyan are beyond inviting. Everyone is so animated when talking about
Wesleyan, it was impossible to choose any other school.

ACADEMIC INTERESTS:
|
While I have been on an
Economics course track, I have tried to take a variety of classes to complement
the major and to broaden my interests. I am really interested in Psychology and
have taken nearly enough courses to become a major. More recently, I have
enrolled in the Humanities courses I missed out on freshmen year. Classes like
Buddhist Art and Drawing are so dissimilar from Economics and challenge me in a
different way.

FAVORITE CLASS:
|
My favorite class at Wes has
been “Myth, Magic, and Movies” with
Bob Steele. It is one of the toughest classes to get in to, because it is a
class on Harry Potter. It was so much fun to reread the books and watch the
movies, but we also explored themes of sexuality and morality that I had never
previously associated with Harry Potter. Also, Bob is one of the most engaging
and approachable professors I have ever had. I thoroughly encourage begging
your way into that class!

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A TOUR GUIDE:
|
My host was a main reason that
I chose Wes, and I would just love to pass my enthusiasm for the school on to
another incoming class of students.

My dream is to
open a bakery, and I love baking when I am stressed out and trying to
procrastinate. I make a mean banana bread.
