WHY I CHOSE WES:

I knew from the beginning of my college search that a liberal arts school was the place for me—somewhere with a close community and a flexible curriculum. After taking tours of many college campuses, my tour at Wesleyan stood out to me. My guide and the other students I spoke to were remarkably diverse but all similar in their genuine, welcoming, and warm nature. Beyond the wonderful people and community here, Wes is the perfect place for me to balance serious academics and consistent dance training.

ACADEMIC
INTERESTS:

Though definitely a humanities and social sciences leaning person, I have yet to determine my major within that area of studies. As a sophomore, I have to declare my major this semester and will most likely pursue a double major in English and American Studies.

FAVORITE CLASS:

My favorite class so far was Introduction to African American Literature. Although I took this class on a whim, it ended up being the most thought-provoking class I’ve taken here. Not only was the reading list very diverse, but the class discussions were both fascinating and intimate because of the engagement of the students and our professor in the material and conversations. This class solidified my interest in pursuing the English major.

CAMPUS
ACTIVITIES:

Precision Ensemble (dancer)
Collective Motion (dancer)
Terpsichore Core (dancer)
Unitarian Universalist Campus Ministry

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A TOUR GUIDE:

I can vividly remember my tour of Wes and the accurate and positive impression of the school that my tour guide and other admissions reps provided me with. Being a tour guide enables me to provide other prospective students with this same experience. Everyone should have the opportunity to find the school that best fits their needs and I want to help people on their way to finding this ideal school!
