WHY I CHOSE WES:

Wesleyan was the first university I toured, and was followed by an endless list of schools ranging from liberal arts colleges to large research institutions. After all that time, I simply could not shake Wes from my mind and returned for an overnight stay in the fall of my senior year. I was already excited by the academic and extracurricular opportunities available, but what convinced me to choose Wes was the enthusiasm and energy of the terrifically passionate student body. I was particularly struck by the driven and cooperative nature of the students, and felt that this was an environment in which I would be challenged, motivated, and supported.

ACADEMIC
INTERESTS:

I am pursuing a Government major because I find the courses in this department most engaging and relevant to my life. In particular, I have focused my interests on International Politics and Middle Eastern Studies, tying together my academic and extracurricular passions. I am fascinated by the networks of institutional, social, and political relations that serve to connect peoples around the globe. I recognize this academic path as an opportunity to better understand how I may affect meaningful change in the world.

FAVORITE CLASS:

One of my favorite classes at Wesleyan thus far has been Islamic Civilization: The Classical Age with Professor Bruce Masters. I walked into the classroom without any background in the subject material, and left with mix of fresh understandings, newly sparked interests, and many more questions.

CAMPUS
ACTIVITIES:

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A TOUR GUIDE:

When I was on my own college search, I was always impressed by the tour guides who seemed genuinely excited about their schools. I decided that if being a tour guide still appealed to me by the time I had been a student long enough, I would know that I was truly happy. Here I am two years later, truly happy at Wesleyan, and eager to be a tour guide on campus. There is little I love more than raving about Wes, and am eager to share my experiences with anyone who will listen!
