Hi my name is Marcia. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. While I grew up loving the city, I was absolutely set on heading east for college. I wanted to get out of California and experience what other parts of the country had to offer. Here at Wesleyan I am double majoring in neuroscience and psychology, while on the pre-med track. Outside of the classroom I am devoted to having the Latin@ voice heard. I have also recently began to get involved in Dr. Robinson's research lab on gambling, junk food, and drug addiction. In the lab I hope to study the ways the brain responds to certain stimuli in given situations, specifically  the way uncertainty plays a role in gambling

Interestingly enough I applied Early Decision 1 to Wesleyan, having never stepped foot on campus. Many think it was a huge leap to make, after all, how can you commit to a school when you haven't experienced it. The fact is I didn't need to tour campus to know that Wesleyan was the place I wanted to spend the next four years of my life. I knew that Wesleyan would allow me to break away from being the cliche science student. I wouldn't be forced to compromise my curiosities in other subjects while pursuing a science degree.
