Mellon Mays Undergraduate Program

The Mellon Program is a mentoring program designed to increase the number of African Americans, Latinos, and Native Americans earning pic2.gif (12929 bytes)the Ph.D. and entering the professoriate in the humanities, the physical sciences, mathematics, and demography. Five students are selected each year. Students apply the summer before junior year and begin with seven weeks in the summer, plus junior and senior year. Students are given a stipend to replace work-study earnings. Currently, Wesleyan has nine graduates of the Mellon Program in graduate school. The Mellon Program has been funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation since 1989.
