Directories

THE FOLLOWING DIRECTORIES CAN BE USED FOR
OUTREACH TO MINORITY AND FEMALE APPLICANTS.

Directory of Minority PhD, MFA and MLS Candidates and Recipients

The Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) Directory of Minority, PhD, M.F.A., and M.L.S Candidates and Recipients is published online in an effort to increase the professional opportunities of minority graduate students and to aid colleges, universities, and other potential employers in the recruitment of highly educated under-represented minorities.  The Directory includes Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Hispanic Americans, and Asian Americans (in humanities and social sciences) who are United States citizens or permanent residents and who have completed (or soon expected to complete) the PhD, M.F.A., and M.L.S Degree.

Online directory will be available October 2005.

The Minority and Women Doctoral Directory

The Minority & Women Doctoral Directory is a registry which maintains up-to-date information on employment candidates who have recently received, or are soon to receive, a Doctoral or Master's degree in their respective field from one of approximately two hundred major research universities in the United States.  The current edition of the directory lists approximately 4,500 Black, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian American, and women students in nearly 80 fields in the sciences, engineering, the social sciences and the humanities.

Please contact Dianna Dozier in the Office of Affirmative Action at ddozier@wesleyan.edu  or at extension 2456 to access this directory.

National Minority Faculty Identification Program

The National Minority Faculty Identification Program, sponsored by Southwestern University, provides services to member institutions and minority candidates seeking first-time or advanced faculty positions in higher education.  The Program serves as a bridge between minority faculty candidates seeking employment and institutions of higher education.

This site, http://www.southwestern.edu/natfacid/ can be used to post faculty positions and search for minority candidates.  Please contact the Office of Affirmative Action at mbenn@wesleyan.edu or ddozier@wesleyan.edu to gain access to candidate information posted on the website.

National Society of Black Physicists

The present organization, the National Society of Black Physicists, was established in 1977 at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD out of a need to address many of the important issues of concern for African-American physicists.  Today, NSBP is the largest and most recognizable organization devoted to the African-American physics community.

The organization compiles electronic mail addresses of physics professionals and students.  Opportunities/open faculty positions can be posted on the Society’s website by contacting Dr. David Beam, NSBP Administrative Executive Officer at adminofficer@nsbp.org or Dr. Vincent Rodgers at v/rodgers@uiowa.edu
