Japanese House (Nihongo no ie)

  • Japanese House is a language based house, designed to share Japanese culture with the Wesleyan community. Japan Society, another student organization on campus, applied to get the house and often has their parties (Curry Dinner, Okonomiyaki Party, etc.) at the house. This is the house's second year in existence. Both years the house has held weekly Japanese conversation hours open to anyone who wants to speak Japanese. Conversation hour was previously held at the house, but it has been moved it to the Campus Center. The house has also sponsored events such as films, a sushi making party, faculty dinners (for Japanese speaking faculty and the house residents), a calligraphy class, a Japanese drum group (Soh Daiko) performance, a Japanese New Years Party with some Japanese foods.
