An Update from the Office of Admission

Early Decision for the Class of 2010 saw a 10 percent increase in applications over last year, and 293 offers of admission. This means the class will be roughly 40 percent ED (like the Class of 2009) but with a significant increase in students from the western United States. The number of students of color – 58 – is also impressive, the highest in three years; that number includes 22 Hispanic/Latino students or 8 percent of the group. However, ED applications from black students were down; so far, there are six fewer black students than in last year’s class.

Please assist the Office of Admission in recruiting promising high school juniors in your local area!

The Wesleyan Book Award

The Wesleyan Book Award program helps maintain Wesleyan’s traditions of excellence and diversity by strengthening relations between Wesleyan and secondary schools, and encouraging talented young men and women to consider attending Wesleyan. The Alumni Association, through regional clubs and volunteers, presents the Wesleyan Book Award to outstanding juniors at selected secondary schools around the country. We are pleased to announce that this year Wesleyan Book Awards have been coordinated in 12 schools across the country.

To initiate the Wesleyan Book Award program in your local community, contact Jennifer Jurgen, senior associate director of regional programs and networks, at (860) 685-2997 or by e-mail at jjurgen@wesleyan.edu.
