AOC Network Regional and Campus Happenings

This has been a busy fall and spring for the Alumni of Color (AOC) Network. We’ve continued some of our regional programming and implemented new programming designed to engage more alumni of color and facilitate meaningful student and alumni of color interaction.

One of the programs pioneered by the AOC Network was the AOC Network Conversation. There were five of these discussions during the fall and the spring designed to test the pulse of the Alumni of Color community around the country.

In response to the call at last year’s We Are Family Weekend for increasing student and alumni of color interaction, two student groups stepped up to the plate. Ujamaa and Ajua Campos collaborated with the Black Alumni Council (BAC) and the Latino Alumni Council (LAC) respectively to execute two on-campus events last December. Ujamaa and the BAC cosponsored the Alumni Fellows Dinner, and Ajua Campos and the LAC worked together on Noche de Gala.

Similarly responsive to the requests during We Are Family Weekend, this spring, Michelle Anderson-Lyn ’84 and Kurt Lyn ’87 created and sponsored a six-part career networking series entitled “Unconventional Wisdom: Legacies of Success.” This program is geared at providing an interactive forum for students to connect with successful alumni of color. Two very successful sessions have already occurred.

Mark you calendar for upcoming AOC Network events. We hope to see you.
