Two of the three alumni-elected Wesleyan trustees are Alumni of Color: Oyeshola Olatoye ’96 and David Hill ’86 begin their three-year terms this fall. Mike McKenna ’73 will also serve as a new alumni-elected trustee.

Oyeshola Olatoye ’96 is a consultant with the urban-planning and management consulting firm Hamilton, Rabinowitz & Alschuler in New York City. She is working with the firm to find a new use for the former Washington, D.C., convention center. Ms. Olatoye received her master’s degree in public administration from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service. She was the university’s 2001 commencement speaker. She has spent the past five years instituting and studying urban school reform, working with the Campaign for Fiscal Equity and New York City Democratic Mayoral Nominee Mark Green on issues related to reforming the state’s school finance system, and as a liaison to NYC’s social service, environmental, and housing lobbies. She has served as a Wesleyan admission interviewer, presenting information sessions at area high schools and on-campus career workshops.

David Hill ’86 is the vice president, general counsel, and secretary for Verizon Communications in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is responsible for all legal and regulatory matters and is actively involved in charting the strategic course for Verizon in those jurisdictions. Prior to joining Verizon, Mr. Hill was associated with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson, the largest law firm in Washington, D.C. As the lead attorney in Wilkins v. Maryland State Police, he helped to secure injunctive relief preventing the use of race-based drug courier profiles in the state of Maryland. He is the class agent for the Class of 1986 and a Wesleyan alumni admission volunteer. He and his wife, Lynn Moore Hill, have one son and reside in Silver Spring, Maryland.
