Black Alumni Council (BAC) Trip to Africa
In my talk with the Black Alumni Council following the 2003 Dwight L. Greene ’70 Symposium, I raised the idea of a BAC trip to Africa. Many people expressed interest. I personally could think of no better group of people with whom to journey to the continent than my Wesleyan BAC friends. Now that I am no longer chair of the Council, and my son is away at college, I have time to really focus on this activity.
To gauge people's interest and the feasibility of such a trip, I sent out an e-mail to about 60 Wesleyan alums that were in my Palm Pilot. The minimum number of persons needed for the trip is 10. We've gotten that and more from this sample group.
While all the details are still being worked out, here’s what I can tell you: the trip will be Friday, February 17, 2006, through Friday, February 24, 2006. There will be an optional overnight trip to The Gambia for those who would like to do so. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact me at junemj@aol.com or at home: (301) 681-5270 (between 9 p.m. and midnight, EST.). If you would like to help with future planning or if you have suggestions for our trip, I would love to hear from you.
All the best,
