Alumni of Color Network (AOC)
The
Network includes the Asian Pacific American Alumni Council (APAAC)
aoc@wesleyan.edu, the Black Alumni Council (BAC)
aoc@wesleyan.edu, and the
Latino Alumni Council (LAC)
aoc@wesleyan.edu. Each Council
develops events and programs that reflect specific interests and
experiences of alumni of color. The Councils work to establish
ties between alumni, students parents of color and the University.
The Network also promotes interests pertaining to communities of
color and collaborates with University offices to assist and support
on- and off-campus programs.

APAAC's mission is to create and maintain strong social and
professional relationships between Asian Pacific American (APA)
alumni, students, faculty, administrators, parents and other members
of the Wesleyan community, and to contribute to the ongoing work of
the Alumni of Color Network. Regularly
scheduled events provide opportunities for APA alumni, students and
parents to come together.
The
APAAC Council Chair and regional volunteers work together to
create and implement events that best serve the needs of the APA
community. We welcome
your involvement!

Established in 1983, the BAC provides a means for African
American alumni of Wesleyan to continue a relationship with the
University, further its goals, support its programs and students,
and create opportunities for interaction with the University
community. The BAC sponsors numerous awards, recognizing alumni and
students whose careers, contributions and character have impacted
not only the University community but also their own larger
communities.
The
BAC Council Chair and regional volunteers work together to plan
and present such annual events as Reunion receptions, the Dwight L.
Greene Symposium (a forum on trends relating to Wesleyan's
engagement with diversity), and panel presentations featuring
distinguished alumni and parents of color.
We welcome your involvement!
Wesleyan Latino Alumni Network (WesLAN)
Chair: Miguel Guadalupe '98
Contact: mguadalupe@optonline.net
The Wesleyan Latino Alumni Network strives to connect Latino
Alumni to each other, to the current student body, and to the larger
Wesleyan community. WesLAN encourages all kinds of alumni
involvement! The Latino Alumni Council (LAC) includes alumni
volunteers who choose to serve as representative members of WesLAN
on campus and who organize events on behalf of WesLAN. WesLAN
Volunteers are any member of the Network who would like to volunteer
to help with a specific event and/or topic, or a member who has
expertise they could to share with the Network if asked (for
example, they would serve as a speaker in a panel, or an alumni
interviewer etc.)
WesLAN Members: All Latino alumni. Members can help when they can, but more importantly, are encouraged to attend events, share ideas and information about themselves and their friends, and contribute to the overall community.
What's different?
WesLAN is inclusive — you don’t have to be a Latino alumnus/a to want to help out or volunteer for the causes and events that are generated through the Network.
WesLAN is local, wherever you are, so is WesLAN. Look for your local WesLAN contact to connect with other members, and to see if there are any local events in your area. If there is no local contact, consider becoming one today!
