  4. Next, select either POP or IMAP for your incoming server. What’s the difference? POP is an older, light-weight protocol that is designed to hold your mail on the server until you check it, and then to delete it once you download the mail to your computer. IMAP is a newer, more interactive protocol that enables you to view your mail on the server from your computer. IMAP is ideal for people who use more than one computer to check their e-mail with a program like Outlook or Eudora. In this case it works best to configure both instances of Thunderbird to use IMAP.) Then input the following under Incoming Mail Server: username.mail.wesleyan.edu

  5. If your username is not entered already under username enter your Wesleyan username.

  6. If your e-mail address is not entered already under Account Name enter your Wesleyan e-mail, in the form of username@wesleyan.edu

  7. After you have verified that your information is correct by clicking Finish (if it is not correct, press the Back button and correct the errors), you can then click on your e-mail account under Folders on the left. You should be prompted for your password and you can then access your e-mail.
