General Information
Overview
The Shasha Seminar on Histories of Race opens on Friday, April 8, with an introductory talk by Andrew Curran, followed by a reception and dinner on campus for all registrants, presenters, and special guests. The program during the following day and half (April 9–10) will take place on campus. Space is limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon receipt of your registration, we will send you a confirmation letter, directions to campus, the schedule, and other pertinent information. The keynote address on Saturday is free and open to the public.
Fees
The registration fee for the Shasha Seminar is $250 per person (Wesleyan faculty and staff, please contact Kathy Macko.) This fee includes all sessions, receptions, meals, and conference materials. The fee does not include overnight accommodations. Limited partial scholarships are available for the Shasha Seminar. Requests for scholarship assistance must be received by March 8. Applicants will be notified whether scholarship assistance has been granted no later than March 30. Meals
All receptions and meals will be served on Wesleyan’s campus and are included in your registration fee. Vegetarian options are available at all meals. If you have dietary restrictions, please note them on your registration form.
Accommodations
While accommodations are not included in your registration fee, Wesleyan has blocked rooms at the Inn at Middletown, 70 Main Street, Middletown, Connecticut at $125 per night for those attending the Shasha Seminar. Please call the Inn at Middletown at (860) 854-6300 no later than March 22 to make your reservation for Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9. Be sure to mention you are attending Wesleyan’s Shasha Seminar to receive the special block rate.
Transportation
Free shuttle service will be provided from the Inn at Middletown to campus locations and back. (Please visit the Maps & Directions pages for travel to Wesleyan, and the campus and accessibility maps.)
