Karl M. Furstenberg

Karl Furstenberg

Karl M. Furstenberg '67 has a distinguished record of Wesleyan service and is widely recognized for his positive contribution to higher education. Subsequent to Wesleyan graduation, he was a Navy officer and then earned an MBA from Harvard University. At Wesleyan from 1973 through 1990, he held positions of class dean, registrar, and dean of admissions and financial aid, which involved him in student and academic affairs, curriculum, diversity initiatives, admissions and financial aid, and budgeting. Since 1990, Mr. Furstenberg has been at Dartmouth College serving as dean of admissions and financial aid and associate provost for planning. During his time in higher education, he has become a national expert on selective admissions, standardized testing, equal access and diversity, financial aid, and strategic planning. He has served on national committees focused on these issues and has been a consultant to other institutions.
