Joshua M. Gilbert ’95

Joshua M. Gilbert ’95 is a principal with the Chicago-based architecture firm Gilbert Kaeding Architecture and Design. He also founded descrit.com, a Web journal from 2001–06 devoted to the critical examination of high design and everyday objects. At Wesleyan, Mr. Gilbert was promotions director for WESU-FM, played water polo, and arranged music for the Cardinal Sinners and Quasimodal. He was a finalist in the Tishler Piano Competition and graduated with high honors in English. Since graduation, Mr. Gilbert has served as chair of the Wesleyan Club of Chicago, actively volunteers for the Office of Admission, and is a class agent. He returns to campus often as a member of the Alumni Association Executive Committee. Mr. Gilbert holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is married to Carey Bartell ’95; they have two children.
