Public Safety received a report of a verbal harassment occurring Saturday, April 8 on Lawn Avenue near the Butterfield parking lot at 11:20 p.m.

A female student reported that seven to eight males and one female walking in the area approached her and began to circle her. According to the alleged victim, some of the males yelled sexual comments at her and one male grabbed his crotch.

The male who grabbed his crotch is described as 5’10'’, with short, blond hair, a fair complexion and wearing a blue sweater and khaki pants. The female who was with the seven males was described as having black hair.

The alleged victim also reported that the males were drinking cups of beer and that the males were yelling comments at passing cars, such as "Hey, stop."

According to Director of Public Safety Maryann Wiggin, the alleged harassers may be Wesleyan students. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Public Safety.

On Sunday, April 9 at 11:04 p.m. a female student working in a classroom in Butterfield College reported an indecent exposure.

She reported that a male came up to a window facing her, pulled down his pants and proceeded to masturbate.

Public Safety and the Middletown Police responded. According to Wiggin, the Middletown Police used a dog to follow the scent of the male. The dog lost the trail on High Street.

While the dog traced a scent to a house on High Street, no one at the house fit the description of the alleged masturbating male.

The male is described as being light-skinned, possibly Caucasian or Hispanic, in his early 20s, with short, dark hair and sideburns. He is also described as being approximately six feet tall with a stocky build and broad shoulders, with a round, scruffy-looking face.

The female student reported that he was wearing a dark cap, worn backwards and a button-down shirt over a t-shirt. He was also reportedly wearing plaid boxers.

According to Wiggin, while incidents similar to this one have happened in the past, nothing like this has happened recently.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Public Safety.
