Women’s rugby’s A-side team beat Wellesley 64-0 this Saturday. Laurel Anderson ’01 contributed a hat trick, while seniors Julie Hook and Joy Barbieri each added two tris. Julie Bennett ’00, Stef Elson ’00 and Liz Weiner ’01 all scored a tri each. And fullback and Co-Captain Anne Bernstein ’00 converted seven kicks to add 14 points to the score. The team stands undefeated (2-0) and unscored upon going into this weekend’s Beast of the East Tournament in Providence, RI. The B-side squad also beat Wellesley, with a score of 39-0. Julia Jackson ’01, Leia French ’02, Leah Rotkin-Ellman ’02, Neville Williams ’03 and Carol Chmara ’03 each contributed one tri. And fullback Dina Levi ’02 also added a tri and converted three kicks as well as a penalty kick. "Both games displayed impressive talent on the part of all players. The quality of the B-side game exhibited the continuity of Wesleyan Women’s rugby domination for years to come," said Laina Poon ’00, the team’s president. "We feel confident going into the tournament this weekend, and hope to return as the ‘Beasts of the East’ on Monday," added Co-Captain Kiera Mulvey ’00.
