Veal-eater asks for the right to choose

By Catalino Cuadrado III

Hello, I would just like to raise a point about certain student’s efforts to try and eliminate veal from campus. I will try and keep this short because we are all studying for finals. I do not think it is right for people who do or do not eat veal to try and eliminate it from the campus menu. It is not your place to tell people what they can and cannot eat. I myself enjoy veal parmesan and if you don’t like veal, then don’t eat it.

If enough people don’t eat a food, I’m sure Dining Services will notice that they’re ending up with a lot of leftover veal and not make it. However, do not try and impose your beliefs on me because you think veal is a “cruel meat.” You have your own right to think that just as I have a right to eat the veal. I do not go around trying to remove vegetables from the salad bar because US farmers are forcing child labor workers to do hazardous and illegal things in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, causing them to miss school and put their safety at risk. I respect your right to eat whatever vegetables you want from wherever you want. Please respect my right to choose what food I choose to consume.
