Student body tax fails to pass

Hoping to increase funding to student groups and wean them off of a "starvation diet" of spending, the Wesleyan Student Assembly (WSA) proposed a ten dollar increase per semester in the student body tax. However, in a referendum held right before winter recess, the tax increase did not pass.

Students should seriously reconsider the consequences of the failed proposal of a $10 per student increase in the Student Body Tax.

Do you have any thoughts about the proposed student body tax increase not passing? I wish the tax had passed, it would have insured that the student budget was in the black for future years. But I understand that some students don’t see the need, considering the budget is currently in good shape.

Josh Walker Interview

Josh Walker ’01, co-captain of the men's swimming team, is undefeated this season in the butterfly event. His sweep includes one win in the 50-meter, four in the 100-meter, and three in the 200. He also set a Wesleyan Natatorium collegiate dual-meet record against Tufts in the 100-meter with a time of 0:52.83. Walker’s favorite color is shiny black, he speaks Russian and he likes the acappella group Quasimodal. He is a double major in Russian Language & Literature and College of Letters.
