Wespeaks:
Bay Area welcomes Wes Grads
By Paul Baker Q: What’s red and black and shivers? A: A recent Wesleyan graduate in their school sweatshirt during a San Francisco summer. Sure, it may dip into the 50’s sometimes during a July night, but we guarantee your reception here will be anything but chilly. The Wesleyan Club of the Bay Area extends a warm welcome to all Wesleyan students arriving in greater San Francisco this coming summer. Maybe you’ve decided to settle "permanently" and try your luck with a hot dot.com company. Or perhaps you’re out for a summer internship of any kind and are due back in Middletown, come Fall. In any case, why not get plugged into the large (but largely invisible) Wesleyan community? There are over 1500 alumni, from all years, from all occupations. It’s a prime opportunity to get networked in: learn about job pportunities...jump-start your social life in a strange city...or simply hook up with people you knew from campus. Here’s just a teaser of some recently planned alumni events: an evening at a funky downtown gallery that specializes in emerging artists; a night with Don Giovanni at the renowned San Francisco Opera; a morning helping restore tidal wetlands; and an afternoon at the just-completed Pacific Bell ball park. It’s all waiting for you, so get in touch with us as soon as you get into town. And be sure to bring your Wesleyan sweatshirt (it’ll help us recognize you so we can say hello. And it may even kind of keep you warm). Contact the Wesleyan Club of the Bay Area when you get to San Francisco (or better yet, before you even leave campus). Just get in touch with Bill Rosenberg ’81, (650) 968-3735, billrosenb@aol.com, or visit <http://www.alumni.wesleyan.edu/WWW/Clubs/sf/welcome.asp(Visit <http://www.alumni.wesleyan.edu/WWW/Info/clubs.html to find out about clubs in other cities). See you at our next event! Baker is an alumn from the class of 1984.
