  Middletown heads to the polls By Sudhin Thanawala
 
   

Middletown’s two main mayoral candidates, incumbent Democrat Domenique Thornton and Republican Evelyn Russo, square off at the polls today after a quiet campaign. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wesleyan student can vote at the Senior Center on Williams Street.

    Tired of having Wesleyan confused with that girl’s school outside Boston? The Administration has created a new position, Director of University Communications, to increase public awareness of Wesleyan, according to Vice President of University Relations Barbara-Jan Wilson.

    Where’s the beef? Not on the plates of many students at Wesleyan. But as it turns out, that may be the only thing Wes vegetarians’ diets have in common. "There are a lot of people who say, ‘Yeah, I’m a vegetarian,’ and then they eat chicken or fish or something," remarked Jessie Levin ’03, who is a vegetarian.

After a disappointing 28-14 loss at Amherst College last weekend, football rebounded with a comprehensive 35-14 thrashing of Bowdoin College in Maine Saturday. "The biggest difference, really, is that Bowdoin isn’t as good a team as Amherst," said Frank Hauser, the head coach.

  Women’s crew rows to strong finish to the season By Allison Rovner
 
   

Although women’s crew entered the Head of the Fish Regatta Saturday simply to end the fall season with one extra race, the team went home with an impressive finish and a fish head trophy. The Head of the Fish regatta, held in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., is shorter than most crew regattas. It is a two and a half mile race, while most crew races are three or three and a half miles long.
