Allegations that members of
Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity (DKE) chanted
homophobic slurs during an initiation event
Tuesday night led to the cancellation of
Fridays Senior Cocktails early Thursday.
"I was disappointed. Both as a senior
specifically and that such an action was taken
based on allegations," said DKE President
Eric DiMario 00. DKE would have hosted the
cocktails which were to be co-sponsored by
Wesleyans Queer Alliance (QA) and the
Senior Class.

response to the incidents which have taken place
over the last few days. A student has alleged
that on Tuesday night members of Delta Kappa
Epsilon chanted homophobic slurs in the courtyard
outside Butterfield. In response, the Queer
Allianse, who was co-sponsoring this weeks
Senior Cocktails scheduled to be held at our
house, withdrew their endorsement. As a
consequence, the Senior Board had no choice but
to cancel the event.

Residents of Butterfield A
allege that last Tuesday night DKE brothers
chanted, "We hate faggots" as part of
their rush event. In light of this homophobic
incident, Queer Alliance has decided to pull
sponsorship of this weeks senior cocktails,
which would have been held at DKE. This decision
equals a cancellation of senior cocktails.
