  Cocktails cancelled after alleged slurs By Lily Raff
 
    Allegations that members of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity (DKE) chanted homophobic slurs during an initiation event Tuesday night led to the cancellation of Friday’s Senior Cocktails early Thursday. "I was disappointed. Both as a senior specifically and that such an action was taken based on allegations," said DKE President Eric DiMario ’00. DKE would have hosted the cocktails which were to be co-sponsored by Wesleyan’s Queer Alliance (QA) and the Senior Class.

  Addressing the class of 2000 Letters from DKE, QA, and Senior Class officers
 
    These three letters were sent by email to the members of the senior class Thursday morning. The letters, signed by the Brothers of DKE, Queer Alliance and the Senior Class Officers, spell out the positions of each of the three organizations involved in the events leading to the cancellation of this week’s Senior Cocktails.

  Wespeak: DKE professes its innocence By the brothers of Delta Kappa Epsilon
 
    We are writing this Wespeak in response to the incidents which have taken place over the last few days. A student has alleged that on Tuesday night members of Delta Kappa Epsilon chanted homophobic slurs in the courtyard outside Butterfield. In response, the Queer Allianse, who was co-sponsoring this week’s Senior Cocktails scheduled to be held at our house, withdrew their endorsement. As a consequence, the Senior Board had no choice but to cancel the event.

  Wespeak: QA questions events By Joshua Hecht and Joel Nichols
 
    Residents of Butterfield A allege that last Tuesday night DKE brothers chanted, "We hate faggots" as part of their rush event. In light of this homophobic incident, Queer Alliance has decided to pull sponsorship of this week’s senior cocktails, which would have been held at DKE. This decision equals a cancellation of senior cocktails.
