NEWS Wes alcohol policy differs greatly from similarcolleges’ By Sam Siegel Wesleyan’s alcohol and party policies differ in key areas from the policies of other universities in Connecticut.According to administrators from Connecticut College, Yale University, and Trinity College, on-campus parties involving the distribution of alcohol must be registered with theiruniversity but do not need a liquor permit from the state.

FEATURES Students organize anti-police brutality march By Jessica Stewart Students met Wednesday night in the MPR to organize a march against police brutality planned for Sunday, Oct. 22, a national day for protesting police brutality. The Student Unity Network (SUN), an umbrella organization, brought together several student groups including Refuse and Resist, American Civil Liberties Union,and Connecticut Students Against the Death Penalty to discuss planning and logistics of Sunday’s march.

"American Movie" is, according to the New York Times "heartfelt and hilarious." The Homecoming football game against Amherst, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 21, marks the first time Wesleyan football will be broadcast live on a non-cable-access televisionstation. The game is the ECAC Game of the Week, and will be broadcast live on the New England Sports Network (NESN). NESN is carried by almost every cable network in the state of Connecticut and by the vast majority of systems throughout New England. The 12 o’clock game can be seen on Channel 59in the Middletown area and is also available to Direct TV subscribers throughout the world as Channel 623. more...

Correction
On Tuesday, The Argus reported that the field hockey team had been outscored by its opponents 33-21, when in fact it was actually the converse.
In the Tuesday, Oct. 17 issue, the "WSA Reports" article on page 6 said that individual gatherings in private residences, such as personal birthday parties, do not require a permit and it said that program houses are considered individual private domains. This is not true. Program houses are considered organizations and thebuildings are considered by the University to be organizations as well. Therefore, no alcohol is allowed in them at any time without a liquor permit. | |
