University to unveil fundraising campaign soon

A major University campaign is currently in the works to raise $250 million dollars, which would be allocated primarily towards financial aid and campus renovations.

An endorsement for Al Gore
Politically speaking, Wesleyan is a liberal university. As such, Al Gore and Ralph Nader, the Green Party’s presidential candidate, appear to be garnering the majority of students’ votes. As Election Day nears, we deemed it appropriate to endorse a presidential candidate. After much debate, we chose Gore, and came to the conclusion the Gore’s platform most closely matched our political views.

On Thursday night, a group of approximately 50 Wesleyan students came to PAC 001 to discuss gun violence in America. The event, entitled "First Monday 2000: Unite to End Gun Violence" was created by First Monday, a national group that hold events such as this on the first Monday of October of every year.

Lately we’ve been getting a little annoyed at the Arus. We thought we’d share why:
1. Last week the technical incapabilities of Argus staff members caused the Ampersand to not be published in the Tuesday issue, but the Friday one instead.
2. Our editorial explaining the situation was not placed in the issue, leaving our reader(s) baffled.

Defense is football team’s best offense

The football team capitalized on big plays and a stellar defense to set up 13 points and dominate Hamilton College 20-3 in the home opener on Andrus Field. Steve Woodruff ’03, in his first start in place of injured starter Scott Perceval ’02, had two key interceptions in the final eight minutes of the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
