The Tradition Continues...

The Class of 2001 can now sigh with relief after learning the long-standing tradition of Senior Cocktails will continue. Seniors have been eagerly anticipating this tradition since their arrival as frosh, and we view this
decision as a continuation of our rights as students rather than a privilege that we have just earned back.

However, we do want to acknowledge the Administration’s collaboration with the Senior Class officers in ensuring the future of Senior Cocktails. The new alcohol policy complicated original plans, and the Administration’s efforts have helped in proposing alternate plans, such as hosting the parties in off-campus bars or casinos.

Additionally, a forum between the Administration, the Wesleyan Student Assembly, and students was held yesterday in an attempt to keep the student body informed about the current situation and to keep the lines of communication open. We appreciate the University’s effort in helping us secure Senior Cocktails, a tradition essential to the senior year experience.

It’s refreshingly nice to see the Administration and the student body on the same team and successfully collaborating to achieve student goals. The Administration is staying on our side, and it’s great to see it protecting our rights. We’re glad that the Administration is doing the right thing, and we hope that in the upcoming weeks with inevitable complications from the new party policy, that it will continue to do so.
