letters to the editorWesleyan Community: At the national convention of the Chi Psi fraternity in August, the
Wesleyan University chapter, Alpha Alpha, was declared dormant. This action
was not a punishment, rather the result of a general dissatisfaction in
our relationship with the national, acknowledged by both brothers and alumni.
We did not feel that the national organization was representing our interests
or responding to our needs as a house. In the past 25 years, our national
fraternity has offered us, as an organization, almost no support. Many
of our alums of the last 25 years have referred to the national as "leaving
us for dead." The most blatant example of their negligence was in their
minimal efforts to aid us in repurchasing our house from the University.
Luckily, our organization has maintained, essentially as a local chapter,
for the last 25 years. Because of this reality, we as an organization feel
that we have just as much right to exist on this
Sincerely, The Alpha Alpha of Chi Psi
