Richard Bull Dance Theater. Bull is joined by quartet of Wesleyan alumnae to perform program of recent and older works. 8 p.m. at Crowell Concert Hall. Tickets $8 at box office.

Beginning Swing Lessons. No partner or experience necessary. Will bring students up to snuff for the intermediate lesson the following week. Time and place TBA. Free.

THROUGH OCTOBER 16:

Embedded Metaphor. [See story, page 7]. Twenty-six artists focus on the bed as a site where anxiety and lyricism inherently dwell. Curator Nina Felshin explores prominent current issues, including AIDS, homelessness and the politics of gender. At Zilkha Gallery.

Alice Burr, Photographer: A California Picotrialist Rediscovered. Curator Thomas Weston Fels presents a seldom-seen selection of this early twentieth century artist. At Davison Art Center.

Spirit of the Metropolis: Bernice Abbott’s New York. A selection of images of 1930 New York’s architecture from Abbott’s “Changing New York” project. Curator Brett C. Stilwell ’97 infuses the exhibit with the artist’s own sentiments on the works. At Davison Art Center.
