New alcohol policy targets student group parties

A new rigidly enforced alcohol policy is threatening to transform Wesleyan’s party scene. Two weeks ago, Mike Whaley, dean of student services, sent a memo to members of the Administration and the heads of several campus societies and fraternities. The memo warned them about impending changes in the University’s enforcement of the current alcohol policy.

A drinking school with an administration problem
Rumor has it that changes are being made to Wesleyan’s alcohol policy. Students have returned to campus only to navigate confusing waves of gossip and hearsay regarding these ominous and ambiguous modifications to the school’s regulations regarding alcohol served at parties. The Administration remains tight-lipped, choosing to leave students to waft in mystery and anxiety rather than engage in open
communication.

Second round of classrooms renovated

Fifteen classrooms across campus were renovated and refurbished with new technology this summer as part of Phase Two of the Classroom Improvement Program (CIP). The original classroom committee, which met in February of 1998, was charged with overseeing the planning and execution of the CIP.
