Forgot where you put your keys? Hop on the treadmill and you may never misplace them again. A simple 4-times-a-week cardio routine can tone your memory, Columbia University and Salk Institute researchers found. The more physically fit volunteers got during the 3-month study, the more blood volume was found in the hippocampus, an area of the brain linked to memorization of new info. "Our next step is to see if certain exercise regimens work better than others," says lead author Scott Cmall, M.D. In the meantime, anything that gets your heart pumping regularly is good for your body and probably your mind.
