WESLEYAN BASEBALL RECRUITING INFORMATION Steps: 1. Introductory Letter 2. Steps to Complete ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for your interest in Wesleyan University and our unique and different baseball experience. At Wesleyan, a focus is placed on the players learning responsibility, resulting in improvement throughout the season and the ability to play relaxed, confident baseball at a highly focused level. In addition, life-long relationships are forged contributing to an exhilarating experience both on and off the field. Wesleyan University offers a unique experience both on the field and in the classroom. Choosing a college is a life changing decision, because it is where you will live and play, socialize and study, for four years. It is also important because it sets the stage for your post-college connections, career and social circle. The reason to go to a top academic college is to be around the best minds of your generation. Wesleyan is among the elite academic institutions because of the quality of fellow students: Intellectually curious, high-achieving students who are able to discover new interests and new ways of thinking from fellow classmates, from exceptional professors, and from an environment focused on learning. In addition, Wesleyan students are relatively unique in academia – believing the concept of a complete education does not end once class is over. Students at Wesleyan believe that being engaged and actively searching for answers are noble traits, as opposed to following the status quo. The result of this quest is an experience that may be construed as different – if different means challenging and invigorating, an education that sustains itself far past graduation. We invite you to strongly consider the opportunity to study at Wesleyan University. Wesleyan is in the elite of top academic colleges in the nation, and is known for its dedicated professors and intellectually curious students. Wesleyan is consistently listed in the Top 10 of Liberal Arts schools in the nation. In addition, daily life at the University features enriching experiences inside and outside the classroom. For those interested in playing baseball, the faculty and coaching staff at Wesleyan are looking for student-athletes who love baseball. The Wesleyan Baseball Experience – A Tradition Since 1865 Wesleyan baseball competes on a national level and has created a tradition of excellence on the field and off. In a fierce rivalry for the coveted Little Three title, Wesleyan has won eight of the last 16 titles, and most recently, placed third in the NESCAC conference in 2005. In addition, the Cardinals were the No. 1 team in New England in 1994, and posted a best-ever 30-8 record. Wesleyan continued on to the NCAA Division III World Series in Battle Creek, Mich. and placed second in the nation. The Cardinals have had numerous all-NESCAC, all-New England and all-America recipients over the years, as well as academic award winners. Highlights of playing baseball at Wesleyan include a special 17-day spring trip to Arizona and California to play opponents from across the country. Also, Wesleyan’s practices are centered around live on-field hitting and fielding, and are spread out to eliminate class conflicts. Through this, a focus is placed on the players learning responsibility as well as ownership of their team and baseball success. Wesleyan Baseball is an opportunity of a lifetime We appreciate your interest in our program and hope you will take the next step in the recruiting process. We hope to be in touch. COACH MARK A.
