Part of the $13-million addition to the Freeman
Athletic Center completed in January, 2005, the Rosenbaum Squash Center
features eight international squash courts. Each has its own
dedicated electronic scoreboard operated by remote control. The
squash center is named in honor of Bob Rosenbaum, University Professor
of Mathematics and Science emeritus and founder and chair of Wesleyan's
PIMMS (Project to Increase Mastery of Mathematics and Science) program,
initiated in 1979. Rosenbaum was an outstanding squash player for
Wesleyan's faculty squad during his Wesleyan tenure and was a four-time national
age-group champion in the sport.
