WESLEYAN FIELD HOCKEY VISITS ARGENTINA, JUNE 26 - JULY 3, 2008

A contingent of 13 players from the 2007 Wesleyan University field hockey squad joined head coach Patti Klecha-Porter (middle row, far left), assistant coach Lindsay Wasserman (back row, far right) and alumnae Marley Aloe '03 (back row, far left) and Melissa Courtemanche '03 (back row, third from left) who currently coach at secondary schools in Connecticut, on a week-long excursion to Argentina June 26 to July 3, 2008.


The group stands before one of the famous 200-year-old gum trees in Buenos Aires.	Some marvelous statues adorn the downtown in Buenos Aires.

If you look closely, you can practically see Madonna standing in the window to the left as the squad poses before the Pink House, the government building of Argentina.	Some elaborate doors caught the attention of the group as they continued their tour of Buenos Aires.

Head coach Patti Klecha-Porter couldn't resist charging to the lead (or at least her horse couldn't resist) as the team took to horse back at the Estancia Santa Susana Ranch.	Allie Lynch '11 chases after a loose ball during one of the squad's four exhibition games during the trip, this one against a club team of players in their mid-20s from Belgrano.

Argentina boasts the number-one field hockey player in the world, Luciana Aymar.	The team is joined by Club Atletico Banfield, another one of the Cardinals' club team opponents.

One of the highlights of the trip was an opportunity to interact with the children at a local community center in Belgrano. There the team members had a chance to play organized games with the local youths, learn about the offerings of the center and distribute gifts to the children.
