| On a gloriously sunny afternoon Saturday, September 3,
six former associates of the field hockey team came back into town for
some fun and excitement. Pictured (L to R) are assistant coach Jen
Shea, Josh Wing '04, Jenna Flateman '04, Megan Gauvey-Kern '05, Louisa
Mook '05, Leora Rodenstein '05 and Catherine Roden '03. Wing, a
three-year team manager and assistant to the assistant coach in 2004, was
in from Boston where he is attending Boston University as a Ph.D.
candidate in astronomy. Flateman, who played on attack for three
seasons, lives in Brooklyn and works for the New York Press, an
alternative newspaper, while representing the U.S. as a member of the
national under-23 women's rugby team. Gauvey-Kern is residing in the
Baltimore area while assisting with the field hockey program at her
alma mater, the Park School, and looking forward to taking the MCATs in
the near future. Mook, who led the Cardinals in scoring during an
11-4 season in 2004 with 11 goals and 13 assists for 35 points, played in
the Bay State Games this past summer and works at Massachusetts General
Hospital in Boston as a clinical researcher. Rodenstein played in
the Maccabiah Games in Israel this summer, helping the USA return with a
bronze medal. She is planning a four-month junket to southeast Asia
before embarking upon a career. Roden is teaching at Phillips
Academy in Andover, Mass.. Roden, Rodenstein, Mook and Gauvey-Kern
teamed mostly with the current seniors and at times, head coach Patti
Klecha-Porter and assistant coach Jen Shea in a scrimmage with this year
squad. The "alumnae" team outscored the varsity, 2-1, in the
preseason action. |
